A prayer: God, Grant me such faith in you my child has in himself— that not a day after he'd stripe his head on the blunt, brutal corner of cinderblock wall— his blood would drip down, staining his shoes, his tears would drip down, soaking his shirt— he'd climb on the ledge of the old, basement couch, he'd tightrope across with his hands holding air, he'd beg my attention and boast with a grin: "Mom, this is def’nitely not dangerous." So sure could I be in your gentle will, I'd follow you blithely across open sky. The blood is already spent. Amen.
Matters of Late
From early November until last week, a selection of my artwork was on display in the lounge of our church, Christ Covenant. The church rotates the lounge artwork to feature pieces by various artists from the church’s congregation every four months, and I’m delighted now to be counted among them. I will say, it was slightly disorienting to walk into church every week for a period and see around me all the art I’m used to seeing in my home. Also, my previously blank walls are very glad now to be decked again in color! However, I count it a huge blessing to belong to a church that values the arts in general and even supports the artists among its body by showcasing their work. I love our church, so if you’re in the Atlanta area and are looking for a place to worship, this is your invitation!
